The Art of Receiving & Resourcing
As some of you know, I've been facing health challenges for the last year. Yes, this Functional Health Coach, who invests SO much time, money, and energy into her health and well-being, found out about a tumor in her abdomen last fall.
As you might imagine, this turned my world upside down. I could write a book - and perhaps I will! - about the lessons I've learned during this time.
For now, one of the biggest lessons has been learning how to RECEIVE, and how to RESOURCE.
I was initially very sick and had friends dropping off food, helping with household chores, and driving me to doctor's appointments. It was all very humbling, especially for this "independent woman" who learned to care for herself beginning at a very young age.
The lesson I want to share with you is this:
Take the time to slow down and get quiet enough to listen to your body's needs, then call in support to meet those needs.
This could look like asking friends for help. It could also look like making a list of what you are and are not available for. (I work a LOT with clients on boundaries.) Support could also come in the form of honoring your needs for rest, joy, sunshine, connection, laughter, and pleasure. Or it might include hiring a Personal Assistant, a Nutritionist, a Strength & Rehab Coach, an Acupuncturist, a Restorative Therapy bodyworker, or a Spiritual Counselor and Theta Healer. (That's my actual, partial list of what I lovingly refer to as Team Angela).
When was the last time you laughed so hard that your face hurt?
When was the last time you truly felt rejuvenated?
When was the last time you gazed at the clouds or the sea or a flower and were so fully present that you lost track of time?
How can you create or call in more of those experiences?
We weren't meant to always be "on" and "productive". (Rest and sleep are both truly productive, anyway, but that's a topic for another email)
Please lovingly make time for yourself, and practice asking for what you need.
Let me know how it goes!
With love, ~Angela
